About CX3 files
A .CX3 file is a proprietary video format. It typically stores raw video data captured directly from a camera sensor via the Cypress EZ-USB CX3 controller. In security applications, it can also be an exported CCTV recording from IDView Central Management Software (CMS).
The biggest disadvantage of the .CX3 format is its lack of standard video containers. Because the file consists of raw MIPI CSI-2 sensor data or proprietary DVR wrappers, standard media players like VLC or Windows Media Player cannot decode it. The raw developer files are massive, while the CCTV files are restricted to specific, outdated desktop playback tools. This makes sharing footage with clients, law enforcement, or viewing it on mobile browsers practically impossible.
To make this footage usable, you must convert it. For web uploads, sharing, or editing in software like Adobe Premiere Pro, convert to MP4. For lossless archiving without proprietary software lock-in, convert to MKV.
Drag and drop your file to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing heavy developer tools or proprietary CCTV players.
