About CURSORFX files

The .cursorfx file format is a proprietary theme package containing custom mouse cursor graphics and configuration data. These files are built specifically for use with Stardock CursorFX, a desktop customization tool for Windows. A single file bundles multiple cursor states, including normal select, text select, busy, and link pointer.

The main disadvantage of the .cursorfx format is vendor lock-in. You cannot apply these cursors natively through the standard Windows OS settings. You must install a third-party background application, which consumes system resources and often requires a paid license for full features. Furthermore, these files cannot be opened on macOS or Linux, and they are not supported by web browsers.

To use the custom pointers natively, you need to convert the .cursorfx file into standard Windows cursor formats: CUR for static pointers and ANI for animated pointers. Alternatively, converting the contents to a ZIP archive may allow you to recover the raw PNG graphics used for the cursor states.

Because this is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters often fail to process it. Only the original software can reliably compile or export the theme data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CURSORFX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
