About CUID2 files
A .cuid2 file is a proprietary system file generated by Baidu software and its mobile Software Development Kits (SDKs). Its primary use is storing a Client Unique Identifier (CUID) version 2. This file acts as a digital fingerprint, allowing applications to uniquely track and identify a mobile device or PC across different sessions and services.
You generally cannot open these files natively, but advanced users often attempt to inspect them using hex editors or basic text editors like Notepad. Because Baidu uses these files for tracking and analytics, users often want to open or convert them to see what personal data or hardware identifiers are being logged. The major disadvantage of the .cuid2 format is its proprietary, closed nature. The internal data is frequently obfuscated or encrypted to prevent tampering, meaning the file lacks transparency and raises privacy concerns for end-users.
If you need to analyze the data, the best target formats are plain text TXT or JSON. Converting to these formats allows you to read any plain-text strings embedded within the file, though you will lose the original binary structure required by the Baidu SDK.
This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because it is not a standard document or media file. Only the original Baidu software algorithms can properly decrypt and interpret the complete data structure. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

The CUID2 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CUID2 converter.
