About CRTR files

The .CRTR file extension is a proprietary page layout format created by MultiAd for MultiAd Creator Pro, a legacy desktop publishing software. Originally popular among newspapers and retail agencies for ad creation and catalog layouts, these files store text, graphics, vector elements, and formatting rules. Because MultiAd Creator Pro has been discontinued, opening a .CRTR file today is a massive challenge. Modern tools like Adobe InDesign or QuarkXPress cannot natively import the format without third-party plugins or exporting it from the original software first. This creates severe bottlenecks if you are recovering old marketing archives or need to extract vector graphics from a legacy campaign. The format is closed and binary, meaning standard text editors cannot parse it. To preserve the layout, your best option is to convert the .CRTR file to a PDF, which locks the design in place, or extract the contents into an EPS or JPG file for image manipulation.
