About COPRESET files

The .copreset file is a proprietary settings file used exclusively by Capture One, a professional RAW photo editing software originally developed by Phase One. It stores specific image adjustment parameters, such as exposure levels, custom color balances, contrast curves, and sharpening values. Professional photographers use these files to save and apply consistent tool-specific edits across large batches of images.

Users frequently need to convert .copreset files when migrating to other RAW developers like Adobe Lightroom. The primary disadvantage of the current format is its strict vendor lock-in. Because the adjustments are mathematically tied to Capture One's proprietary rendering engine, these presets do not map exactly to sliders in other software. You cannot simply convert a .copreset directly into an XMP or LRTEMPLATE file without losing accuracy or shifting colors.

The best conversion targets are XMP for cross-platform metadata and COSTYLE if you are bundling multiple tools within Capture One. However, standard online converters fail because they lack the proprietary color engines required to translate the specific mathematical values.

Because this is a closed, proprietary format, only the original software can properly read or apply the data to an image. Since these files are often based on structured text or XML under the hood, our analysis can inspect the file and show its internal content. If a supported embedded format is detected, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your COPRESET file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
