About CNDF files
The .cndf file is a proprietary satellite channel list file used by set-top boxes powered by ALi Corporation chipsets. These files contain tuning parameters, transponder frequencies, and channel names required for satellite television tuning.
To view or edit a .cndf file on a computer, users typically rely on specific channel management software such as AliEditor or STBHD_LAN.
The main disadvantage of the .cndf format is its rigid, proprietary nature. It is a closed binary file, making it unreadable in standard text editors and highly dependent on specific satellite receiver firmware. You cannot easily share a .cndf list between different receiver brands or even different chipset generations without risking hardware crashes.
When modifying channel data, the most practical conversion targets are universal formats like CSV, XML, or TXT. Converting to these text-based formats allows you to organize transponder data in standard spreadsheet software or port your custom channel lists to Enigma2-based Linux receivers, though some proprietary metadata may be lost in the transfer.
Because this is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters fail to process it. The encrypted or compiled binary structure means only the original software can properly read or export the full database. However, just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the binary file, and show embedded text strings like channel names and satellite coordinates, helping you recover data even without the original receiver.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CNDF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The CNDF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CNDF converter.
