Convert a file to CLU
To convert other file formats to the "Scientific Data & Game Archives" file type, you need software like Infomap or a similar tool.
About CLU files
The .CLU file extension represents several distinct data formats, most notably output data from Infomap network clustering software, multiple sequence alignments from CLUSTAL, or proprietary game archives (such as compiled Lua scripts in the Buzz! series or RIFF audio in Delta Force).
Because the extension is heavily fragmented, working with .CLU files is often frustrating. Scientific .CLU files are essentially plain text but lack standard delimiter formatting, meaning they do not open cleanly in spreadsheet software without manual data parsing. Game-related .CLU files are severely restricted proprietary containers that obfuscate data and cannot be played or viewed in standard media players without specialized extraction tools.
To make this data usable, conversion is necessary. For data analysis, convert scientific .CLU files to CSV or TXT to easily import them into Microsoft Excel or Python pandas. For genetic research, convert alignments to the industry-standard FASTA format. For game audio, the internal RIFF containers must be extracted to WAV or MP3. Convert.Guru analyzes your CLU file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert CLU file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use Infomap or similar software from the "Data Clustering and Game Archives" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to CLU, try Infomap or another comparable tool in the "Data Clustering and Game Archives" category.
The CLU Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CLU converter.
