To convert other file formats to the "High-Speed Raw Video" file type, you need software like Phantom Camera Control or a similar tool.
About CINE files
A .CINE file contains proprietary, uncompressed or minimally compressed raw video sensor data captured by Phantom high-speed cameras. It stores the exact light values recorded by the camera sensor at extremely high frame rates, usually ranging from hundreds to millions of frames per second.
To open a .CINE file natively, you must use Phantom Camera Control (PCC) or a professional Non-Linear Editor (NLE) like Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve using specialized plugins. You can read more about the technology behind high-speed cameras on Wikipedia.
The primary disadvantage of the .CINE format is the colossal file size. Capturing 14-bit raw video at thousands of frames per second generates hundreds of gigabytes of data in mere seconds. These files are impossible to play in standard web browsers, mobile phones, or basic media players. The proprietary nature of the format makes sharing raw files with clients or non-VFX team members extremely difficult and bandwidth-heavy.
For web sharing and client review, convert .CINE to MP4 (H.264/H.265). For professional video editing, transcode to .ProRes 4444 or .DNxHR to reduce CPU load while maintaining color fidelity. For VFX archiving, convert to an EXR image sequence. Drag and drop your file here to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing heavy camera software.

The CINE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CINE converter.
