About CHORD files

A .CHORD file stores song lyrics mixed with musical chords, typically used by musicians to display sheet music digitally. Programs like SongBook or software supporting the ChordPro standard use these files to render lyrics and chords cleanly on screen. Opening a .CHORD file without dedicated software is frustrating. Because it relies on specific markup tags, opening it in standard word processors like Microsoft Word often results in messy, misaligned text with brackets scattered everywhere. Sharing these files with bandmates or students who lack the right app is a major disadvantage. To fix this, you should convert the file to PDF. A PDF locks the formatting, ensuring chords stay perfectly aligned above the correct lyrics regardless of the device. You can also convert to TXT to extract the raw text, though you will lose the visual alignment. Because .CHORD syntax varies between different music applications, automated conversion is tricky for generic tools. Standard converters often strip the markup or fail completely.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CHORD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted CHORDAI, CHORDPRO, MP3 and PDF files.
