About CELL files

A .CELL file is a spreadsheet workbook created by Hancom Office Cell (formerly known as ThinkFree Office), a popular office suite developed by Hancom. Similar to the modern Microsoft Excel XLSX format, .CELL files use a ZIP-compressed container to store XML-based data, formulas, charts, and formatting. While this architecture is technically robust, the format is proprietary and rarely supported outside of the Hancom ecosystem.

The primary problem for users is that standard spreadsheet software - including Microsoft Excel, LibreOffice, and Google Sheets - cannot natively open .CELL files. Attempting to force-open them often results in garbled text or XML parsing errors. This creates significant workflow barriers when sharing financial data or reports internationally. To make the file usable, the most pragmatic solution is converting it to a universally accepted standard. Convert to XLSX if you need to retain formulas and edit the data, CSV for importing raw data into databases, or PDF for archiving read-only financial statements.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CELL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
