About CELL files
The .CELL file is a proprietary spreadsheet format created by Hancom Office Cell (formerly Thinkfree Office). It stores rows, columns, formulas, and charts. The main disadvantage of the .CELL format is its proprietary nature. If you share this file with colleagues who use Microsoft Excel or Google Workspace, they will not be able to open it natively. It requires a specific software installation and is not supported by standard web browsers. Converting .CELL files to XLSX, CSV, or ODS is the most pragmatic workaround. An XLSX conversion maintains most formatting, while CSV is perfect for extracting raw data without styling. Because .CELL is a closed ecosystem format, it is notoriously difficult for third-party tools to process accurately. Often, only the original software can properly export the data without losing complex macros. However, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported. Since the .CELL format uses a hidden ZIP container, our analysis can often detect the embedded XML data, making viewing or basic conversion possible even without the original software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CELL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert CELL file to XLS, XLSX, XLSM, XLSB, ODS, CSV, TSV, TAB, DIF, SLK, WK1 or WK3, you can use Hancom Office or similar software from the "Spreadsheet Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert WQ1, XLSM, NOTES, QPW, WK3, WB2, WKS, XLSB, 123, XLS, WB1 or XLSX files to CELL, try Hancom Office or another comparable tool in the "Spreadsheet Data Storage" category.
The CELL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CELL converter.
