The .CAPT file extension is primarily used as a Capito Data File, developed by Linrock Software. It acts as a compressed project container that stores step-by-step software instructions, combining raw screenshot images with XML structural data.
Opening and editing these files natively requires the original Capito software. This creates a significant disadvantage: because the format is entirely proprietary, you cannot open a .CAPT file in a standard web browser, text editor, or document viewer.
