Developed by TechSmith, this format is heavily utilized for creating software tutorials and screencasts. Users frequently attempt to convert this file because it is a proprietary project file, meaning it requires an expensive software license to open and edit. The biggest disadvantage of the .camproj format is that it does not contain the actual video or audio data. Files are often only a few kilobytes in size, while the external media they point to can exceed hundreds of megabytes.
