To convert other file formats to the "Educational Literacy Document" file type, you need software like Clicker or a similar tool.
A .cadoc file is a Clicker App Document created by Clicker, a specialized educational literacy tool developed by Crick Software. These files are built to assist students with reading and writing by packaging rich text, images, spelling data, and embedded audio like Voice Notes into a single file.
While highly effective in an educational setting, the .cadoc format is strictly proprietary. It requires a paid license and the installation of the Clicker app (on PC, Mac, iPad, or Chromebook) just to open the file. This creates a major bottleneck when sharing assignments; parents, tutors, or administrators without the software are completely locked out of viewing the student's work.
To make the document universally accessible, the best targets for conversion are PDF or DOCX (Microsoft Word). Converting to PDF creates a reliable digital printout that anyone can read. However, converting away from the native format means that interactive elements - specifically the embedded Voice Notes and the student's keystroke/writing analytics - will be permanently lost.
Because this file format is a closed ecosystem, standard online converters fail to process it. Typically, only the original Clicker software can properly read or export the data.
