About BTXT files
The .BTXT file extension is almost exclusively associated with BTXTPad Document files. These files are created using BTXTPad, a niche and largely obscure text editing application developed by Waylon Boer. The format is primarily used to store written text, notes, or structured documentation generated within this specific localized application.
Because BTXTPad is an obscure and potentially discontinued software, sharing or archiving .BTXT files is highly impractical. The format is closed and proprietary. Standard operating systems, web browsers, and modern word processors like Microsoft Word or Google Docs do not offer native support for this file type. If you send a .BTXT file to a colleague or client, they will be unable to open it without encountering a standard system error. Furthermore, relying on niche formats for text storage risks permanent data loss if the original software becomes incompatible with modern operating systems.
To guarantee long-term readability, it is highly recommended to convert .BTXT files into universally supported text formats. The safest conversion targets are TXT (for raw, unformatted text), RTF (for basic formatting retention), or PDF (for universal sharing and read-only printing). While converting to standard text formats will preserve the core written content, any proprietary layout or custom formatting unique to the BTXTPad environment will likely be lost.
This format is exceptionally difficult to convert using standard online tools because its internal structure is undocumented. Mass-market converters fail to process it because they lack the specific parsing engine required for Waylon Boer's software. Our analyzer can inspect the internal hexadecimal structure of the .BTXT file. If our analysis detects supported underlying ASCII or UTF-8 plain-text strings embedded within the proprietary wrapper, viewing or extracting the text to a standard format will still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your BTXT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
