A .BSE file is a highly specialized format that typically functions as a digital Braille document created by Braille Star Editor. However, the extension is heavily fragmented. It is also actively used as a game AI script or save file in the Battle for Middle-earth real-time strategy series, and as a Bulk Stats Export file containing telemetry data for Ciena 6500 enterprise telecom platforms.
This fragmentation makes .BSE files inherently difficult to manage. Standard file converters almost universally fail to process them because there is no standardized internal structure. A .BSE telecom export from Ciena is entirely useless without enterprise-grade parsing tools, and proprietary Braille documents often rely on outdated legacy software. Game AI scripts are heavily dependent on the specific engine used by Electronic Arts.
Because of these proprietary limits, direct conversion is extremely difficult. A game script might be converted to TXT or XML, but a compiled Ciena data dump cannot be easily transformed into a standard CSV without the original software.
