About BRSAR files

A .BRSAR file is a Binary Revolution Sound Archive, a proprietary container format developed by Nintendo specifically for the Wii console (codenamed "Revolution"). Unlike a standard audio file, a .BRSAR acts as a comprehensive database, packaging hundreds or thousands of individual sound effects, voice clips, instrument banks (swar), and music sequences (rseq) into a single encrypted or compressed blob. Because this format is heavily optimized for the Wii's specialized DSP (Digital Signal Processor) and often uses Big-Endian byte ordering, it is completely unreadable by standard media players like Windows Media Player or generic archiving tools like WinRAR. Users typically encounter this file when modding Wii games or attempting to rip game soundtracks for personal listening. To make the audio usable, the archive must be unpacked and the internal streams converted. For editing and sound design, converting to WAV preserves the raw quality of the samples. For casual listening or uploading to the web, converting extracted streams to MP3 or AAC is the most practical solution. Our tools allow you to parse the archive structure and convert the internal audio data into standard formats without needing complex SDKs.

Convert.Guru analyzes your BRSAR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted BRSEQ, BFSAR, BRSTM, ZIP, SPF, KRAW and TAD files.
