The .BP3 file is a legacy AutoCAD Batch Plot File generated by older versions of Autodesk AutoCAD. It stores lists of drawing files and specific output configurations used to automate the printing (plotting) of multiple CAD drawings simultaneously.
Users frequently encounter challenges with .BP3 files because they are proprietary, obsolete configuration files that do not contain actual vector graphics or drawing data. A common misconception is that a .BP3 file holds CAD geometry. In reality, it only holds file paths and print instructions. Modern web browsers and standard image viewers cannot read these instructions, and modern versions of AutoCAD have long replaced the .BP3 format with the DSD (Drawing Set Descriptions) format. This creates a frustrating limitation: you need access to vintage software to process the batch plot as originally intended.
