The .BOC file is an EasyWord Big Document created by E-Press EasyWord, an obsolete word processing application. It was originally designed to handle large text files that struggled to load in standard text editors of the era.
This format is highly problematic today. It is a closed, proprietary, and heavily outdated file type. Users typically cannot open it on modern operating systems like Windows 10/11 or macOS, and it requires the original, hard-to-find software. Standard online converters fail to process it because its internal architecture was never publicly documented. It is not supported by web browsers, making quick previews impossible.
The best target formats for conversion are DOCX, RTF, or TXT for editing, and PDF for archiving. When attempting to extract data from a .BOC file, be aware that complex legacy formatting, such as margins, custom fonts, and embedded elements, will likely be lost.
