About BKMK files

The .BKMK file is a proprietary settings format used exclusively by Yummy FTP, a legacy FTP, SFTP, and WebDAV client for macOS developed by Yummy Software. These files store critical server connection configurations, including remote hostnames, port numbers, usernames, default directory paths, and often encrypted passwords.

Users desperately need to convert .BKMK files because Yummy FTP is discontinued and abandoned. It is fundamentally a 32-bit application, meaning it completely fails to launch on macOS 10.15 (Catalina) and newer operating systems. Users who update their Macs are suddenly locked out of their server bookmarks and workflows. Standard online converters fail to process .BKMK files because the format is entirely proprietary, undocumented, and contains application-specific encryption for user credentials.

To restore access to your servers, you must migrate these bookmarks to modern, supported FTP clients. The best target formats are XML for importing into FileZilla, DUCK for Cyberduck, or standard CSV for manual reference. Be aware that because passwords in .BKMK files are encrypted by the original app, they are usually lost during extraction and must be re-entered.

Because this is a closed, proprietary format tied to defunct software, extracting data natively is impossible without an older Mac. If our analysis detects an underlying Apple Property List (plist) structure or plain-text strings, we can expose your server IPs and usernames so you can rebuild your connections.

Convert.Guru analyzes your BKMK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
