Extract text from Behold Organize files (BHO)

A .BHO file is a Behold Organize document created by the Behold genealogy software. Rather than storing actual family tree records, this file saves the user's specific formatting rules, language translations, and display instructions. It serves as a companion file that tells the software exactly how to present the raw data.
The main disadvantage of a .BHO file is its absolute dependence on external data and proprietary software. It contains no actual genealogy records - it only references external GED (GEDCOM) databases. If you email a .BHO file to a relative, they will not see your family tree unless they also have installed Behold and possess your original GEDCOM file. This creates massive confusion for users who assume their painstaking research is safely backed up inside the .BHO format.
Because it is inherently a plain-text configuration file, the best conversion targets are standard text formats like TXT, XML, or JSON. Converting to these formats allows you to review your custom settings or translations without needing the original software.
