The .BFB file is primarily used in two distinct technical contexts. First, it serves as a proprietary 3D game model file for Zoo Tycoon 2, developed by Blue Fang Games. These files contain the mesh, animation, and texture mapping data required to render animals and objects within the game engine. Second, .BFB files act as 3D printer G-code files generated by the Bits From Bytes Axon software, now largely superseded by modern slicers like Simplify3D. Both formats are highly specialized and proprietary. The game model variant is locked to an obsolete game engine, meaning it cannot be natively imported into modern 3D suites like Blender or Maya without community-made scripts. The 3D printer variant contains hardware-specific toolpath instructions rather than pure geometry, making it useless for standard mesh editing.
