About B32 files

A .b32 file stores ophthalmic ultrasound B-scan data generated by Sonomed Escalon ultrasound equipment. B-scans create 2D cross-sectional images of the eye used in clinical diagnostics. Users typically need proprietary Sonomed software to properly open, analyze, and measure the data within these files. The .b32 format is highly proprietary and closed. You cannot open it natively in Windows or macOS, and it cannot be viewed in standard web browsers or standard image viewers. Sharing these files with patients or external physicians who lack Sonomed software is practically impossible without exporting them first. The best conversion targets are standard image formats like JPG, PNG, or TIFF for easy viewing, or DCM (DICOM) for medical archiving. Note that converting to flat images permanently loses dynamic adjustment capabilities, such as gain manipulation or distance measurements present in the raw data. This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because it uses an undocumented data structure. Often, only the original Sonomed software can properly read or export the clinical data. Standard online converters fail to process it. However, you can just drag and drop your file into convert.guru to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible.
