About AVX files
The .avx file extension serves two distinct but technical purposes: it is primarily a proprietary video recording format used by Avigilon Control Center for CCTV surveillance, and secondarily an Audio Video eXchange plugin file for Avid Media Composer.
When dealing with Avigilon or Gust Corporation game files, the main challenge is proprietary lock-in; these video containers are not recognized by standard media players like VLC Media Player or web browsers. They often require specific manufacturer software to view, making them difficult to share with law enforcement, insurance agents, or legal teams.
For accessibility, the best solution is converting these video source files to MP4 (H.264) for universal playback on computers and mobile devices, or AVI for lossless archiving. Users should note that converting surveillance footage may strip embedded metadata (such as digital signatures or GPS tags) required for strict legal chain-of-custody, so retaining the original .avx source is recommended alongside the converted copy.
Convert.Guru analyzes your AVX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert AVX file to MP4, DLL, SO, DYLIB, BUNDLE, PLUGIN, XPI, CRX, SAFARIEXTZ, APPEX, KEXT or SYS, you can use Avigilon Control Center or similar software from the "Video Surveillance Recording" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert LV2, DYLIB, VST, AAX, DRV, TDE, LADSPA, BUNDLE, AU, DLL, RTAS or SO files to AVX, try Avigilon Control Center or another comparable tool in the "Video Surveillance Recording" category.
The AVX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our AVX converter.
