About ART80 files

The .art80 file is a proprietary embroidery design file created by BERNINA Embroidery Software version 8. It contains stitch data, thread colors, and object outlines required to machine-embroider a digital design. Typically, users open it using BERNINA ARTlink, a free tool provided by the manufacturer, or their premium digitizing software. The major disadvantage of the .art80 format is its strictly proprietary nature. It locks users into the BERNINA ecosystem. Standard image viewers and web browsers cannot open it. Furthermore, it is tied to a specific version of the software. If you send this file to a user with version 7 or a different machine brand, they will fail to load the design. Users must frequently convert it to a more universal format to share designs or use them on non-Bernina machines. The best target formats are EXP (Bernina's raw stitch format for USB transfer), PES (for Brother machines), or DST (the universal Tajima stitch format). Note that converting from .art80 (an object-based file) to a raw stitch file like DST drops vector outline data, meaning scaling the design later will degrade stitch density. Because .art80 is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters fail to process it. Often, only the original BERNINA software can properly read or export the exact stitch generation algorithms. If our analysis detects a supported underlying structure, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ART80 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted EXP and EMB files.
