The .anp file is a proprietary architectural CAD project file utilized by APRI ArCon NextGen. It is also used as a PERT chart node location file in Primavera Project Planner or Microsoft Project. A minor subset of these files function as application preferences for Adobe Animate.
The core disadvantage of the .anp format is extreme software lock-in. These files use closed data structures, demand expensive commercial licenses to open, and cannot be natively rendered by operating systems or web browsers. Relying on raw .anp files for client handoffs or cross-team collaboration almost guarantees accessibility failures.
To ensure data usability, an .anp CAD file should be exported to industry-standard formats such as DWG, DXF, or PDF for 2D drafting, and OBJ or STL for 3D modeling. PERT chart data should similarly be saved as MPP, XML, or flat PDF files. Note that converting out of the native format may strip away parametric intelligence or software-specific stylistic rendering.
