About AGM files
The .AGM file extension is primarily known as a proprietary surveillance video format used by AGP DVR Systems. Alternatively, it serves as a DTS Multi-channel Pro Packer File utilized by the DTS Pro Series Surround Encoder to organize mono audio tracks. The AGM format is extremely frustrating for users. As a closed, proprietary DVR container (often based on a modified RIFF structure), it multiplexes simultaneous camera streams into a single file. This means standard media players like VLC or Windows Media Player cannot open it. The DTS variant is merely an intermediate package of metadata and track layouts, completely useless outside its specific software suite. To make these files usable, video AGM files must be exported or converted to MP4 or AVI for universal playback, though multi-camera layouts are usually flattened to single views. For the audio variant, extracting the original WAV or MP3 files is preferred. Because these are highly proprietary formats, standard online converters invariably fail. Often, only the original DVR software or DTS encoder can properly read and export the data.
