Extract text from Flowcharts and audio settings (AF2)
To convert AF2 Flowcharts and settings to another format, you need iGrafx Process or other Vector Image software.
To convert other file formats to the "Legacy Diagram File" file type, you need software like iGrafx Process or a similar tool.
The .AF2 extension represents a collision of three distinct worlds: legacy business graphics, automotive audio tuning, and medical diagnostics. The most common convertible format is the Micrografx ABC FlowCharter file, a vector-based diagram format from the 1990s. Users typically encounter friction here because the original software is defunct (acquired by Corel and iGrafx), leaving valuable business process maps and organizational charts locked in a proprietary container that modern browsers and image viewers cannot render.
Another significant use is the Audiotec Fischer DSP setup file. These are binary configuration files used to tune car audio processors (like the Helix or Match series) via the DSP PC-Tool. Users often mistake these for audio files, but they contain strictly numerical parameter data, not sound. A third variation exists as a diagnostic protocol for Abbott Alinity/ARCHITECT medical systems, which is purely industrial.
For the legacy flowcharts, the immediate solution is conversion. To archive these old diagrams, convert to PDF (Portable Document Format) to ensure the layout remains fixed. For web use or to embed diagrams in documentation, PNG or JPG are universally supported. If you need to edit the nodes and lines, converting to SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is the only way to preserve the vector paths without the original software.
