About ZDCT files
A .ZDCT file is an internal localization string resource file primarily used by Zoom video conferencing software. A smaller percentage of these files are also generated as language data files by Adobe software. These files store the interface text and translations required to display the software in different languages.
This format is strictly proprietary and designed only for application-internal use. This means it is highly restricted and cannot be opened easily. It requires specialized compiling tools from the developers to properly read or write. If you try to open a .ZDCT file in a standard text editor, you will usually face encoded strings, raw binary data, or garbled characters. Editing the file directly often corrupts the string lengths, which will crash the associated software upon launch.
Translators and developers usually need to convert localization resources to standard formats like CSV, JSON, or XML so they can work within industry-standard Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) software. However, standard online converters fail to process .ZDCT files because the exact encoding methods remain undocumented and closed source.
Because this file format is difficult to open or convert, often only the original software can properly read or export the data. We can inspect the file and show raw text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or extracting the text data may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ZDCT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The ZDCT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ZDCT converter.
