About YOTI files
A .YOTI file is a specialized digital identity backup generated by the Yoti verification app. It serves as an essential encrypted recovery key, allowing users to safely restore their identity vault when migrating to a new smartphone.
The primary disadvantage of this format is its strictly proprietary, closed ecosystem. A .YOTI file (typically named RECOVERY.yoti) does not hold standard readable data, ID scans, or photos. Instead, it exclusively stores heavily encrypted private cryptographic keys. Consequently, it is completely unsupported by standard text editors, web browsers, or archive managers. Attempting to force-open or convert this file will corrupt the encryption keys, permanently locking you out of your digital ID.
Because the format is designed purely for cryptographic security rather than content display, converting it to standard formats like PDF or JPG is both impossible and counterproductive. Standard online converters fail to process it because it lacks standard document structures.
Convert.Guru analyzes your YOTI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The YOTI Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our YOTI converter.
