About YOG files

The .yog file is a proprietary video format created by the Outerra Engine. It stores raw screen capture sequences recorded directly within the 3D planetary engine or its associated tech demo, Anteworld. Developers and gamers use this format to capture high-resolution, engine-native gameplay or simulation footage before finalizing it.

Because .yog is a closed, proprietary format, it is extremely difficult to use outside of the original ecosystem. Standard media players like VLC or Windows Media Player cannot decode the engine-specific data. The files are often massive because they bypass heavy compression to maintain high rendering framerates. This prevents users from directly uploading the footage to YouTube, social media, or standard video editing timelines.

To share or edit the footage, you must convert the .yog file into a standard container format like MP4 (H.264/H.265), MKV, or AVI. However, standard online video converters fail to process these files because they lack the proprietary Outerra codec. Often, only the original Outerra Engine can properly read, render, or export the data into a standard video format. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded media stream, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your YOG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
