The .XOHT file format is primarily used to store DRM-encrypted audio downloaded for offline listening via streaming applications like the Hungama Music app or Xiaomi's Mi Music. These files typically contain standard MP3 or AAC audio tracks that have been enveloped in a proprietary Digital Rights Management (DRM) encryption layer to prevent unauthorized sharing.
The primary disadvantage of the .XOHT format is severe vendor lock-in. Because the audio is scrambled, you cannot open these files in standard media players like VLC media player or Winamp. Furthermore, they cannot be transferred to a USB drive for your car stereo or edited in audio software.
