Convert a file to XGP
To convert other file formats to the "Game Patcher File" file type, you need software like Xfire or a similar tool.
About XGP files
The .XGP file format is primarily known as an Xfire Game Patcher file. It was utilized by Xfire, a once-popular instant messaging client for PC gamers, to manage and deploy updates for supported video games directly through the platform.
Since Xfire officially ceased operations in 2015, there is no official or maintained software available to read or execute these files. The primary disadvantage of the .XGP format today is its absolute obsolescence. It is a proprietary data container meant exclusively for a discontinued network infrastructure. Because it relied on server-side handshakes and client-specific logic, users cannot simply "run" an .XGP file on modern operating systems like Windows 11.
If you are attempting to recover legacy configurations or analyze old patch data, your best conversion targets are generic formats like TXT, XML, or ZIP. Be aware that extracting data may yield raw binary files or fragmented game assets that are difficult to reuse.
This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because it is closed and proprietary. Standard online converters fail to process it because they lack the specific legacy decompression algorithms used by Xfire. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded archive format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your XGP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
