Convert XBL to another file type
To convert your XBL file to another format, you need BayesiaLab or other Data software.
Convert a file to XBL
To convert other file formats to the "Probabilistic Model" file type, you need software like BayesiaLab or a similar tool.
About XBL files
The .XBL extension is primarily associated with Bayesian Network models created by BayesiaLab, a specialized software platform for probabilistic reasoning and artificial intelligence. These files store complex directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) representing variables (nodes) and their causal relationships (arcs), along with the underlying probability tables. While .XBL files are technically XML-based, their proprietary schema makes them difficult to interpret without BayesiaLab. Users often need to convert these files because the native software is expensive and niche, creating a lock-in effect that hinders sharing models with stakeholders who do not have a license.
A secondary, now-obsolete use of the .XBL extension is for the Extensible Binding Language (or XML Binding Language), a legacy technology formerly used by Mozilla to define the behavior of XUL widgets in older versions of Firefox.
For BayesiaLab users, the best conversion target for data analysis is CSV (to export node probability tables to Excel) or PDF (to share the visual network structure). For archiving or interoperability with other probabilistic tools, exporting to XML allows the raw structure to be parsed by custom scripts.
Convert.Guru analyzes your XBL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
FAQ
If you want to convert XBL file to HTML, HTM, CSS, JS, PHP, ASP, ASPX, JSP, JSPX, PY, RB or PL, you can use BayesiaLab or similar software from the "Bayesian Network Model" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert RSS, CSS, CGI, SITEMAP, PL, WEBMANIFEST, JSON, JS, XML, HTML, ICO or HTM files to XBL, try BayesiaLab or another comparable tool in the "Bayesian Network Model" category.
The XBL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our XBL converter.
