About WRUI files
A .wrui file is a user document, image, or database that has been maliciously encrypted by a variant of the STOP/Djvu ransomware family. Attackers use AES-256 encryption to scramble the file contents and append the .wrui extension, effectively locking users out of their data.
There is no standard application that can open these files directly. Security researchers often recommend tools like the Emsisoft Decryptor for STOP Djvu, which can sometimes restore files if they were encrypted using an offline key.
The critical disadvantage of the .wrui format is that the original data is completely inaccessible. Standard online converters fail to process it because the internal structure and headers of the original file are scrambled by cryptography. Users urgently need to convert or decrypt these files back to their original DOCX, JPG, or PDF targets to restore their personal or business data.
This is a closed, maliciously altered format. It is incredibly difficult to convert because only the original attacker possesses the private decryption key for online IDs. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your WRUI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The WRUI Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our WRUI converter.
