About WPOST files

A .wpost file is a blog post draft or published article saved by Windows Live Writer or its open-source fork, Open Live Writer. It contains text, formatting, images, and metadata like categories and publishing tags. Originally, users opened these files with Microsoft's desktop blogging client to manage offline blog content. The main disadvantage of the .wpost format is that Windows Live Writer is discontinued abandonware. The .wpost format uses the proprietary Microsoft Compound document structure, also known as OLE Structured Storage. This locks your content into a dead ecosystem. You cannot open these files in modern web browsers, Microsoft Word, or standard text editors. Files also bloat in size if they contain multiple high-resolution uncompressed images.
