About WORKSHEET files
The .worksheet file is a macOS developer document created by BBEdit, a popular text editor built by Bare Bones Software. It functions as an interactive command-line interface embedded within a text document, allowing users to type Unix shell commands, execute them, and view the terminal output pasted directly beneath the command. While useful for local macOS scripting, the .worksheet format has severe limitations. It is a proprietary workflow that locks users into the macOS ecosystem and requires an active BBEdit installation to function interactively. On Windows or Linux, the file cannot execute commands and appears simply as a messy, disorganized text file mixing code and output. To share this data or make the commands usable elsewhere, you must convert the .worksheet file to standard formats. Converting to TXT (Plain Text) or MD (Markdown) is ideal for archiving the session output. If you need the commands to be executable on other operating systems, converting to a SH (Shell Script) file is the best approach, though you will lose the historical output text. This file format is difficult to open or convert properly because its execution behavior is completely closed and relies on BBEdit's internal engine. Standard online converters fail to process its unique interactive properties.
Convert.Guru analyzes your WORKSHEET file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert WORKSHEET file to PDF, CSV, XLS, XLSX, XLSM, XLSB, ODS, TSV, TAB, DIF, SLK or WK1, you can use BBEdit or similar software from the "Interactive Shell Command Execution" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert WQ1, XLSM, NOTES, QPW, WK3, WB2, WKS, XLSB, 123, XLS, WB1 or XLSX files to WORKSHEET, try BBEdit or another comparable tool in the "Interactive Shell Command Execution" category.
The WORKSHEET Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our WORKSHEET converter.
