About WLVS files

A .WLVS file is a custom video export settings profile created by Microsoft for the discontinued Windows Movie Maker application. It typically stores XML or proprietary text parameters such as target resolution, audio bitrate, video bitrate, and frame rate. The main disadvantage of the .WLVS format is that users frequently mistake it for an actual video file. It contains absolutely zero video or audio data. Furthermore, Microsoft officially retired Windows Movie Maker in 2017, meaning these files are effectively useless on modern operating systems unless you are maintaining a legacy software environment. Because it is essentially a configuration document, standard online video converters fail to process it. You cannot convert a .WLVS file into an MP4 or AVI video.
