To convert other file formats to the "Legacy Vector or Bitmap Font" file type, you need software like CorelDRAW or a similar tool.
About WFN files
The .WFN extension refers to two distinct legacy font formats that often confuse users due to their incompatibility with modern operating systems.
Corel Symbol/Font File: Originally designed for early versions of CorelDRAW and WordPerfect, these are vector-based stroke fonts or symbol libraries. Unlike modern standard fonts (OpenType or TrueType), these proprietary files cannot be installed directly into Windows 11 or macOS. Designers typically encounter them when trying to access archived clipart collections or opening legacy documents (pre-CorelDRAW 3.0), resulting in "Missing Font" errors or garbled text.
WGT/AGS Bitmap Font: Used extensively by Adventure Game Studio (AGS) and the older "Word Up Graphics Toolkit," these are raster (pixel-based) fonts. Game developers and modders use them to maintain a retro, pixel-perfect aesthetic in point-and-click adventure games. Because they are bitmaps, they do not scale smoothly like vector fonts.
Best Conversion Targets:
For Modern Use: Convert Corel .WFN to TTF (TrueType) or OTF (OpenType) to install and use them in generic applications like Microsoft Word or Adobe Illustrator.
For Game Development: Convert WGT .WFN to PNG sprite sheets for editing, or import standard TTF files into AGS to generate new WFN resources.
For Vector Editing: Convert Corel symbols to SVG or EPS to preserve the scalable vector paths for use in Adobe Illustrator.
Convert.Guru analyzes your WFN file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The WFN Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our WFN converter.
