Convert a file to WFB
To convert other file formats to the "Application Component File" file type, you need software like WebFOCUS or a similar tool.
About WFB files
.WFB files are proprietary binary files primarily used as WebFOCUS application components by business intelligence systems, or as workflow binaries in WorkFusion and Pegasystems automation environments. They store compiled data, logic, or workflow states required by enterprise platforms to execute specific tasks.
To natively open a .WFB file, you must have access to the enterprise WebFOCUS suite by Information Builders (now ibi) or the corresponding Pegasystems Platform that generated the binary. In rare legacy use cases, a .WFB file may also represent a WaveFront Sound Bank used in vintage audio hardware.
The .WFB format is highly restrictive and deeply integrated into its parent software ecosystem. Because they are closed binaries, these files cannot be opened by standard text editors, web browsers, or generic file viewing applications. Users often face extreme difficulty when trying to share BI components or RPA workflows with external stakeholders who lack the expensive enterprise licenses required to read the files.
Direct conversion to standard formats is virtually impossible outside of the original environment. The recommended solution is to open the file within its native software and use the built-in export tools to save the underlying data as CSV, JSON, or XML. If the file contains reporting data, exporting to PDF or XLSX is the most pragmatic choice to ensure the information remains accessible.
Because .WFB is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters universally fail to process it. Only the original software possesses the internal logic to properly read or export the structured data. However, convert.guru provides a realistic workaround. Just drag and drop your .WFB file to identify the format, view its internal hex strings, and convert it if our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format.
Convert.Guru analyzes your WFB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert WFB file to MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WMA, M4A, AIFF, OPUS, ALAC, APE or WV, you can use WebFOCUS or similar software from the "Application Component Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MIDI, AAC, TTA, AU, WV, DTS, MID, FLAC, RA, MP3, PCM or WAV files to WFB, try WebFOCUS or another comparable tool in the "Application Component Storage" category.
The WFB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our WFB converter.
