About WAND files

The .WAND file extension represents a proprietary GarageBand Magic Template originally created by Apple. These files store preset configurations, instrument combinations, and loops for the "Magic GarageBand" feature, which allowed users to simulate live jam sessions across genres like Blues, Jazz, and Funk. You can natively open these files only using legacy versions of Apple GarageBand (specifically versions 4 through 6 on macOS). Users typically attempt to convert .WAND files because they want to listen to the saved session on other devices. However, this format suffers from severe disadvantages. It is deeply obsolete, as Apple permanently removed the Magic GarageBand feature in version 10. Furthermore, a .WAND file is a proprietary project file, not a standard audio format. It requires the original software environment to render the sounds. To convert a .WAND session into universally supported formats, your best targets are MP3, WAV, or M4A. Be aware that this process usually requires opening the template in an older version of GarageBand and using the "Bounce" or "Export" function to create a flat audio track. Any interactive session data will be permanently lost during this export. Because this format is a closed, legacy Apple configuration, standard online audio converters completely fail to process it. If our analysis detects embedded audio loops, property lists, or MIDI data within the Apple package, viewing or partial extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your WAND file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
