A .w64 file is a Sony Wave64 audio file, an uncompressed format engineered to solve a specific limitation: the 4GB file size cap of standard WAV files. While standard WAVs (based on the RIFF specification) use 32-bit headers that cannot address data beyond 4 gigabytes, Wave64 uses 64-bit headers, theoretically allowing for exabytes of audio data. However, this format is purely for production, not distribution.
