Convert a file to VSZ

To convert other file formats to the "Python Plotting Script" file type, you need software like Veusz or a similar tool.

About VSZ files

A .VSZ file is primarily a project saved by Veusz, a scientific plotting package. Unlike standard image files (like JPG or PNG), a VSZ file is actually a plain text Python script that contains instructions on how to build a graph (e.g., "load data.csv," "draw axis," "plot line").

The Critical Constraint: By default, Veusz files do not contain the actual data; they only link to external files (like CSV, HDF5, or TXT) on your hard drive. If you send a .VSZ file to a colleague without the accompanying data files, the graph will be blank or fail to open. This makes the format poor for archiving or web publishing. Users frequently need to convert VSZ to self-contained formats like PDF (for papers) or SVG (for further editing in Adobe Illustrator).

A secondary, less common use of the extension (approx. 17%) is as a Visual Studio Wizard file. These are simple text configuration files used by Microsoft Visual Studio to launch template wizards. They are not graphical and are typically only relevant to software developers maintaining legacy extensions.

Convert.Guru analyzes your VSZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
