About VSPS files

A .VSPS file contains serialized performance profiling data generated by the diagnostic tools in Microsoft Visual Studio. Developers use these files to analyze CPU usage, memory allocation, and code execution bottlenecks without needing the full, massive raw data trace.

Despite its utility in development, the .VSPS format has significant disadvantages. It is a highly proprietary, closed format. Files can only be opened with a heavy, paid installation of Microsoft Visual Studio. Non-developers, project managers, or clients cannot open these files to review performance metrics because standard text editors and web browsers do not support the internal serialized data structures.

To share this data, users typically need to convert .VSPS to CSV or XML for parsing in external analytics tools, or to PDF to share visual reports with management.

Because this file format is a closed system, it is notoriously difficult to open or convert outside of the Microsoft ecosystem. Often only the original software can properly read the graphs or export the profiling data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or data extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your VSPS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The VSPS Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VSPS converter.
