About VNF files
A .vnf file is a Vision Numeric Font format used exclusively in industrial CAD/CAM and engraving software. These proprietary fonts define exact vector toolpaths for CNC machines and laser engravers. You can typically use them within Type3 or Gravostyle. The main disadvantage of the .vnf format is its severe lack of compatibility. You cannot install a .vnf file natively on Windows or macOS. It is useless outside of its dedicated, expensive engraving ecosystem. Furthermore, locking your typefaces into this format restricts interoperability with standard design tools like Adobe Illustrator. To gain flexibility, users often need to convert these files into standard typography formats like TTF or OTF, or into standard vector shapes like DXF and SVG. However, this file format is notoriously difficult to open or convert because it is closed and proprietary. Standard online converters fail to parse the specific CNC toolpath data inside. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your VNF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The VNF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VNF converter.
