About VII files
A .VII file is a ViiVid Multi-Vantage Video created by the Happaning mobile app. Often described as "Google Street View for video," it stores multiple synchronized video streams along with complex spatial, location, and timestamp data. This structure allows viewers using the native app to swipe in different directions to seamlessly switch between different user-recorded perspectives of the same live event.
While technologically impressive, .VII files are severely restricted by their proprietary nature. Because the format relies on a custom, blockchain-style synchronization codec, you cannot open these files in standard media players like VLC or Windows Media Player. Furthermore, major social networks and video platforms like YouTube do not support the format, effectively locking your recordings inside the Happaning ecosystem.
To share, edit, or archive your recordings, you need to convert the .VII file to a standard format like MP4 or MKV. However, you must be realistic: converting this file will permanently "flatten" the experience. You will extract standard video streams, but you will completely lose the interactive, multi-vantage swiping features.
Standard online video converters almost always fail to process .VII files because they cannot parse the complex, multi-feed proprietary container. If our analysis detects standard underlying video streams (such as H.264) hidden within the custom container, viewing or conversion to a standard format may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your VII file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
