About ULT files

The .ULT file extension represents two completely different formats, creating a common source of confusion. Most frequently today, it is a Sliced 3D Model created by Ultimaker Cura for older Ultimaker 3D printers. These files contain G-code instructions (toolpaths, temperatures, speeds) rather than editable 3D geometry. Users often try to open them in CAD software like Fusion 360 or Blender, only to find they are unrecognized or import as non-editable path lines. For these files, the goal is often to visualize the print path or, rarely, to reverse-engineer a printable mesh.

Alternatively, a .ULT file is an Ultra Tracker Module, an audio format from the 1990s designed for the Gravis Ultrasound sound card. Unlike standard MP3 or WAV files, these modules contain raw instrument samples and sequencing patterns. They provide high-quality playback for their size but are completely incompatible with modern media players like iTunes or standard web browsers. To make the music accessible, users must convert them to MP3 or FLAC, or use specialized tracker software.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ULT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
