About UFT files

The .UFT file is a proprietary Torque Font Cache File used primarily by game engines developed by GarageGames, such as Torque 3D. These files store pre-rendered, rasterized font data so the game engine can quickly render in-game text without wasting system resources processing complex vector typography on the fly.

This format has severe disadvantages for everyday users. It is a highly proprietary, closed binary format that cannot be opened or installed by standard operating systems or default font viewers. Because it strips away the mathematical vector outlines found in standard fonts, it is completely useless outside of its specific game engine environment.

If you are a modder extracting game assets, you might attempt to convert a .UFT file back to a standard TTF (TrueType) or OTF (OpenType) font. Unfortunately, because the original vector curves are permanently lost during the caching process, direct conversion to a working typing font is impossible. The best you can typically achieve is extracting the raw raster images of the character sheets into target formats like PNG or BMP.

This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because only the original game engine software is designed to read the specific memory layout of the cache. Standard online converters will fail to process it because they lack the proprietary extraction algorithms. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your UFT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
