The .TVO file extension represents a proprietary video format created by TeveoLive, an early internet webcam and streaming software developed by Teveo. These files function as containers for live video clips recorded during the late 1990s and early 2000s, often used for personal webcam broadcasts or security monitoring.
Because TeveoLive services and software have been discontinued for decades, .TVO files are effectively "orphan" data. They use obsolete compression algorithms that modern media players like VLC or Windows Media Player cannot decode natively. Users attempting to open these files today typically encounter "unsupported format" errors or find themselves unable to install the original 16-bit or 32-bit viewing software on modern 64-bit operating systems. To preserve these memories or review the footage, the only practical solution is conversion.
For preservation and universal playback, we recommend converting .TVO to MP4 (H.264). If you intend to edit the footage in software like Adobe Premiere Pro, converting to an intermediate format like MOV or AVI may yield better results, though quality will always be limited by the low resolution of the original webcam hardware.
