About TT18 files

The .tt18 file is a proprietary data file created by TurboTax Canada 2018 software by Intuit. It contains a user's tax return data, including personal information, income records, deductions, and tax calculations for the 2018 Canadian tax year. This format has major disadvantages for long-term storage. It is entirely proprietary and closed-source. Users cannot open .tt18 files natively in web browsers, standard text editors, or standard PDF viewers. Furthermore, the file is highly version-specific; you typically need the exact 2018 desktop version of TurboTax Canada to view the completed forms or file an amendment. Newer versions of the software can often import the data for carryover purposes, but they do not render the historical 2018 forms.
