About TET files

The .TET file extension primarily functions as a proprietary game engine texture for Elsword, an action MMORPG developed by KOG Studios. Alternatively, it is widely used as a match replay file for the web-based puzzle game TETR.IO. In rarer cases, developers encounter .TET files as Script Editor Themes for the Godot Engine or as templates in the legacy educational software Textease.

The main disadvantage of the .TET format is its rigid, closed-ecosystem nature. Because these files are strictly built for specific engines, they cannot be opened natively by operating systems, standard image viewers, or media players. For example, a TETR.IO replay file is not a video; it is a lightweight data file containing a sequence of coordinates and keystrokes. Users find this frustrating when they attempt to share a match online only to realize standard players reject the file.

Users typically want to convert Elsword .TET textures into standard raster formats like PNG or DDS for fan art or client modding. For TETR.IO players, the goal is usually converting the replay into a standard MP4 video file to share on social media. Godot themes are often converted to plain text or JSON for easier editing.

This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert directly because the binary structures are proprietary and largely undocumented. Standard online converters fail because they expect standard headers. Often, only the original game client can properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - like a standard bitmap wrapped inside the Elsword texture - viewing or conversion may still be possible. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported.

Convert.Guru analyzes your TET file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PDF, SXB, TEXTURES_L1 and DDS files.

The TET Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TET converter.
